Mom, Where did the toys go?

That photo says it all. My sassy little baby made this face while trying to stand up and look around while holding my chair. Welcome to Day Two of the packers. Things are going smoothly, well not so smooth for me. As you can see in the photo below, I don't look very happy. I'm not. This was the day that I started feeling more sick. As I would come to find out tomorrow, I have Strep. NO fun.
When there are boxes everywhere you start to make up fun games. Like.. Where is daddy's nose? Except in this case, it was Josephine just wanting to pinch his nose to get a reaction. She was happy as long as Rudolph was with us. Rudolph came to join our happy family yesterday when I went shopping to keep us occupied.
Kevin likes to put Rudolph on his head, play the song and watch as Josephine just giggles and smiles. She really is a happy baby. I'm very lucky

Day one of the packing

Our friend Kevin Witte-hunt stayed with us a few days after he lost all his furniture and his family had already headed to Oklahoma. Josephine really enjoyed all the attention she was getting, especially the flying game. Kevin is a big fan of the toss in the air, and Josephine loved EVERY minute of it. My favorite part of this photo is, as his wife Melissa pointed out, that it looks like Jo is praying every time she is tossed in the air.
At first, Josephine was not sure what to make of the movers. What is that loud noise you are making (the tape)? Where are you taking my toys? What are these new brown mountains that are containing me into this room (the boxes)? That is how I think her mind was going. The packers themselves were very nice. They would always show up, it seems, right after Jo went to bed. So each day they just were really quiet until she woke up. Here is Kevin and Kevin just relaxing while Jo practices her standing.
Now onto Bailey. She seem to know something was going on that first weekend. She saw us getting all the laundry done, packing up bags, cleaning out her closet, throwing out her old toys, etc. So she was nervous and always looked so sad. This is the picture of how Bailey looked all week. Mind you she did FANTASTIC on the road. Drugged, but fantastic. What a good dog.

Iliana's First Birthday Party

For those of you who did not know this, I had found some distant cousins in Warwick, RI before we moved there. John's Great-Grandfather and Mine were brothers who immigrated here from Greece in 1912 to Fall River Massachusetts. That was the short version of the story. :)
So the last weekend we were in Rhode Island we were able to go to his daughter's first birthday. Josephine got to see her cousins one last time. She just looked so cute for her first real birthday party! She had a great time and enjoyed hanging out with Iliana's yiya.

Black Friday

First off. No, we did not get up at the butt crack of dawn to go shopping and get the good deals. We did, however, go after Josephine's first nap to Old Navy and The NEX. She made a bigger killing at ON, whereas I got my nice jacket for the winter time at the NEX. Overall a very productive day. I just love the outfit she was wearing and just how damn cute she is in it.

Josephine's First Thanksgiving

We got to spend the day, well the dinner, with The Raunigs this year. It was such a wonderful time and all the food was fantastic. Even Jenna had her own version the Tofurky, as her sister calls the abomination.

Josephine's shirt was all festive for her 1st Thanksgiving and very fitting "I'm Stuffed"
The turkey wasn't as big of a hit as the regular mashed potatoes were. As you can see in this photo, she really loved to eat them ;)
So after all that messy Thanksgiving dinner we were off to do Josephine's favorite part of her day, Bath Time! We seem to like it more and more each day. This was one of the only photos Jo and I took all day! But at least I got the happy smiling baby in my photo.

Reflux Appt

So as it appeared, we thought Josephine was ready to get off her Reflux Medicine. So we scheduled the appt and went. As soon as the corpsmen tried to lay her down to do her height she started screaming. The whole appointment was her really upset and crying. I love though how Dr. Mcdonald likes to say in situations like this "My little friend seems sad". This picture says it all on the drive home. Sorry Jo. The Dr did say she could be ready and we should go ahead and stop giving her the meds.

Needless to say, she did not sleep that night very well or the next night. So we put her back on the reflux meds and she is now a happy baby once more. We will try again at her 1 year appt I'm sure.

Another sad goodbye

So we had to say another sad goodbye this week. The Witte-Hunts have left Rhode Island! (Well Kevin is still here until graduation, but Melissa and the kids have said goodbye) This was a really rough goodbye. I'm getting teary eyed all over again while writing this. On a happier note. Kaiden will forever be Josephine's first boyfriend. He was the first boy to kiss her, try to hold her hand, pull her pants off when she was still a newborn and share toys with her. Wonder what they will think of all this years down the line when we all live in the same port again?
Well as you can see on the photo below that Kaiden decided that he wanted to be a baby again and get in the walker and walk around. Josephine thought this looked fun that she stood up behind him and walked behind him as he walked the walker. I just love this photo cause you can see just how hard she is concentrating! Vrrrrrooooooom.

Shhhhh.....

It seems the other day that Bailey had a secret to tell Josephine... wonder what they are talking about?

Staci came to visit

Like in one of my previous posts, I love how you always seem to be reconnected with past friends thanks to the military. Staci use to be one of Kevin's roomates back when he lived in San Diego on his first tour. Several years later, here we are all in Newport at the same time. She has married a Marine Dino and are now expecting their first child, a boy, here in Feb. As you can see Josephine loves her Staci.
Also if you pay attention to the photo above, you can see that Josephine is waving! YAY. Yes that is true. Josephine is finally (about 95% of the time) is waving hello and goodbye and is also starting to point at us!
The one thing that does suck about always moving, is you finally make a pretty good friend and now we have to move from each other. Then again, this is the Navy and we will all be in the same location again soon I'm sure of it! *This is for you Katie! We are following you shortly! Three weeks and we are there!

I want to walk

So I looked up last week and someone is wanting to walk with her walker! We are close!

Xmas Dress Preview

It's that time of year. The time when every commercial on tv has a xmas jingle, or the jewelry stores have invested all their money into christmas commercials that will run from now until Valentines Day! "He went to Jared" commercial with the kids are just plain hysterical. Most kids don't care what their dad got their mom.... Well enough on that ranting!
Here we go!!! Finally found the cutest dress I could, well the cutest dress in my opinion. I think it's cause of the girl that is wearing it! Well in a few more days we will actually have our xmas photos that we went and had taken today. I think they came out pretty cute. JO just wanted to have her mug face on and ball her hand up in a fist. My tough girl.

Out with you

So the a few weeks back we were cleaning the upstairs and Josephine was playing in her room (only cause we gated her in it) and I came around the corner with my camera and it looks as though she is telling me to get out..... Geez Already?!

Winter Hat Time

Yes yes what you are seeing is correct. Josephine has a winter hat and glove set that is a puppy dog! The funny story behind this hat is we actually bought this for her, before she was even born! Thank goodness our daughter has a small enough head that she is able to use them a whole year later since we got them too big for when she was born! As you can see though, she kept giggling at her hands cause they had the gloves on them! I think she is going to enjoy winter wear!
On Saturday we decided to enjoy the weather before it got even colder! So we bundled Josephine up in her hat and her pink winter coat and headed out to downtown Newport for some shopping and some family time. Kevin and I had decided to have a date weekend and we included Josephine in it all, except when she was sleeping! Friday night we enjoyed some Rock Band, snacks, some wine and just spending time together! Saturday after we got done with our downtown excursion, we headed for dinner at Applebee's! Josephine did so well, and of course I'm always so proud of her. I'm one lucky woman! I have a great husband and a wonderful daughter! This has been a great weekend!

Hello Frosty

Yes it is that time of year again, and here we are in our new WINTER pjs' that have little snowmen all over it again. What is not to love about a pair of pink pj's with snow on them. Josephine has seemed to take to these cause they are very warm... Bring on the snow they are predicting tomorrow!

Moving Date-

Hello Friends and Family. Happy Friday to you all. I told you I'm going to try and keep up with these blogs, and yes I am! Look at me go! So here is the reason for our Friday update. We have finally heard from the moving company! It looks like we are going to be getting the dates we wanted. They are going to pack us out on Monday November 29th and Tuesday the 30th. Then on Wednesday December 1st they will come and get our furniture and boxes. That will give me the rest of that day to get the cleaning done cause on that Thursday Dec. 2nd in the morning, Kevin will be graduating from SWOS! That Friday Papa Don will be flying in to come and help us, which is a huge relief! I just need to learn how to control my talking for a few days or I'm going to drive him INSANE! <3

So get ready Norfolk. It's more official now and we will be there with you starting on the the 5th, Sunday!
Here is a photo of what it looked like when we unpacked our car here in Newport RI

VOTE!!!

This past Tuesday November 2nd, I too along with millions of others voted! I was really unsure on how to go and vote while holding Josephine but knew I needed to go and vote. After doing some candidate research, I bundled Jo up and out we went! Lucky for us the polling place was really a few blocks away (could have walked, but needed to run errands afterwards).

Of course all the volunteers that were working were so smitten by Josephine, and she must have had her flirty face going on cause the men working couldn't get enough of her! After checking in, the older woman at the table (she reminded me of my grandmother) was super sweet to hold Josephine while I casted my vote. Josephine did amazing. She just sat there and watched me and didn't cry or squirm. Not sure if I should be proud that she didn't mind the stranger, but at that moment I was.

I enjoyed expressing my freedom as an American and in the end Josephine got the sticker that made her happy!

Chet in Newport

Since becoming a Navy Wife, I have discovered something. Friends that you make in other cities, always seem to cross your path again. Well this week it happened again. A good friend of ours from Monterey has come and made Newport his home now. Chet is back! It really does seem like yesterday that I would watch his dog and Chauncy and Bailey would just play and play.

Well this week we met up for lunch and Chet got to meet Josephine for the first time. She really took to Mr Chet! Can't wait for our next meet up after he gets back from Dahlgren and we can get Timmy in town too....
